Silvia Careddu
Silvia Careddu, winner of the Premier Gran Prix at the 56th Geneva Music Interational Competition in 2001, was born in Cagliari in 1977.
After having obtained the diploma with highest marks at Cagliari’s “Pierluigi da Palestrina” Conservatory, she continued her studies under the guidance of Riccardo Ghiani, attending at the same time the three-year specialization course directed by Raymond Guiot at the Accademia Italiana del Flauto in Rome.
In 1997 she entered the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris-CNR, in Sophie Cherrier’s class, and in 1998 was awarded with unanimity the prestigious Premier Prix. In 2002 she obtained the Diplome de Formation Supérieur “Mention très bien à l’unanimité avec les felicitations du jury” of the “Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris-CNSMDP” in Pierre-Yves Artaud and Florence Souchard’s class for flute and Maurice Bourgue, Michel Moragues, Itamar Golan, Laszlo Hadady’s class for chamber music. She has also obtained the postgraduate diploma in baroque flute and piccolo respectively in Pierre Sechet’s and Pierre Dumail’s class.
Alongside her studies, Careddu has participated in Aurèle Nicolet’s Master Classes at the Accademia Chigiana di Siena, where she obtained the Honor Diploma each year and followed classes with internationally renowned musicians like Emmanuel Pahud, Jacques Zoon e Michel Debost.
She has won prizes in national and international music competitions, among which: Premio Sassari (Italy, second prize), Jeunes Talents de la Flute (Morangis, France, second prize), Fnapec-Concours de Musique de Chambre (Paris, Prix Special), Cagliari’s Lion’s Club (Italy, first prize), Prix de l’Academie de Villecroze (recording of promotional cd), Syrinx International Flute Competition (Rome, Italym, first prize at unanimity), Prix du Public at Geneva’s 56th International Music Competition (Switzerland).
Starting in September 2004, she has been first flute at the Berliner-Sinfonie Orchester, directed by Maestro Eliahu Inbal.
Careddu has played as a soloist with the Stuttgart Radio Orchester SWR, Festival Strings Lucerna, l’Orchestra del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Tokyo Festival Orchestra, Jena Orchester, Beograd String Orchestra and the Orchestra d’Archi Italiana.
She is regularly invited at European, Korean and Japanese music festivals among which: Festival de Pollença, Festival de L’Emperi, Les Flaneries Musicales de Reims, Fukuoka Flute Convention, Musica Riva Festival, Les Laureats du Concours de Genève, Les Jeunesse Musicales, AFAA-Radio France, (with the production of a promotional cd), Festival Midem-Cannes (where in 2002 she was nominated “Révélation Musical”), Orhid-Skopje Summer Music Festival, Festival International de musique de Colmar, Musique en Voutes, Österreichische Flötengesellschaft, Flautissimo Simposio italiano, Festival de Bellerive-Genève, Seoul Summer Festival.
She has held Master Classes in important musical academies like the Academie Musicale de Colmar, Odaesan (Korea) Summer and Winter Music Academy and Beograd University.
