Notes to Il Segreto della Fantasia
Il Segreto della Fantasia is a musical fable for children. The story is a simple one: Marco and Lea, in a lazy afternoon, discover the magic dimension of imagination, exploring and playing with the natural elements (Air, Water, Earth and Fire). The fable’s eight songs, all sing-alongs, are written following different musical styles and present in their original form many acoustic musical instruments that rarely find place in production for children.
Il Segreto della Fantasia was originally concieved as a project for musical instruction promoted by the municipality of the city of Perugia. Every song in the fable explicists and synthesizes one or more themes part of the musical instruction curriculum: from the exploration of the different sounds, to the parameters of sound, to the dramatizaion of the texts and the research of materials to build original musical instruments. The project has involved about two thousand children of Perugia’s municipality that have worked towards the development of the fable in all of its pedagocical angles for the entire school year.
In the CD, published by the EGEA Small editions, the fable is proposed in its entirety in two versions: in the first (tracks 1–18) the songs are all sung by children, in the second instead (tracks 19–36) the songs are proposed in their instrumental versions.
