Tetraktis Percussioni
Tonino Battista: L’ Ultima Danza del Guerriero (2nd version)
This is the version for percussion quartet dedicated to TETRAKTIS-PERCUSSIONI, of a composition written in 1996 for a mixed ensemble ( 2 electric guitars, electric bass, flute, clarinet, violin, piano, synthesizer and percussion ) wuth live dancer and electronics. The title refers to the trilogy of Carlos Castaneda, and specifically to the training of the “guerriero” (warrior) in the school of the witch doctor YAQUI, don Juan.
“To die is a monumental act. Thus you will dance for your death, until day’s end. And your death will be sitting here and watching you. When you arrive at the end of your dance you will look at the sun, and then your death will point toward the South. Toward the Immensity”. (C. Castaneda) - TONINO BATTISTA
